The 10th Da Nang Sports Festival's billiards championship wrapped up with medals, cash prizes, and team banners awarded to top performers. The event, which began on 4 September 2026, was organized by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism as part of the city's 10th Sports Games, according to Báo Mới.
From 4 to 6 September, 129 athletes representing 18 districts and wards competed across 10 events. The strong turnout showed how widely cue sports have spread in Da Nang and the level of competition among local clubs and players, as reported by Báo Mới.
The men's singles program included five disciplines: three-cushion carom, one-cushion carom, free carom, 9-ball pool, and 10-ball pool. Men's doubles featured 9-ball pool, three-cushion carom, and one-cushion carom. For women, singles events were held in 9-ball pool and three-cushion carom. Organizers said the mix of carom and pool events, along with women's competitions, was meant to encourage broader participation and raise the standard of play across the city.
Each event awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals. The top three finishers in every discipline also received certificates and cash prizes. Organizers recognized overall team performance as well, giving banners and extra awards to the most successful delegations. This approach rewarded both individual and team achievements. Báo Mới reported that the closing ceremony included the presentation of medals and special team awards.
The tournament's format, covering several cue sports disciplines, required players to be versatile and think strategically. The prize structure and event design aimed to create a competitive atmosphere and support the growth of cue sports in Da Nang.
According to the General Department of Physical Education and Sports, billiards is now part of Da Nang's official plan for the 10th National Games of Vietnam, where the city will compete in 34 sports. This move reflects Da Nang's focus on developing cue sports and preparing athletes for national competition.
The championship did more than just name new city champions. With 129 athletes from 18 districts, it expanded the pool of competitive players and raised expectations for future events. Cue sports in Da Nang have become a citywide contest of skill and strategy, and the organizers' approach to rewarding both individual and team success could serve as a model for other cities looking to build a strong and inclusive cue sports community.
