Zlatko Dalic's recent visit to Khor Fakkan Club was more than a formality. Now leading the UAE national team, the Croatian coach accepted an invitation from Krseimir Rezic, Khor Fakkan's head coach and a fellow Croatian. Dalic toured the club's facilities on the evening of 8 September 2026, met with Rezic, and received a commemorative shield to mark the occasion.
Dalic's visit to Khor Fakkan was part of a broader tour of UAE clubs, which also included a stop at Sharjah FC, where fellow Croatian Romeo Jozak serves as sporting director.
Dalic is no stranger to UAE football. His earlier stint at Al Ain FC gave him a close look at the local player pool and competition. He also brings international experience, having led Croatia to the World Cup final in 2018 and a third-place finish in 2022. Jutarnji list notes that these achievements played a major role in his appointment as UAE coach.
Dalic has signed a contract with the UAE national team running until the end of June 2030, with Croatian media reporting an unofficial annual salary of around 5 million euros. His systematic approach to visiting clubs, rather than making ceremonial appearances, demonstrates a commitment to in-depth scouting and integration into the Emirati football system.
Dalic's approach goes beyond ceremony. By meeting with club coaches and spending time in the domestic football scene, he is working to build a more unified and competitive national squad. The UAE has often lacked this kind of leadership-someone who combines international experience with a direct, hands-on approach to local football. If Dalic continues to connect these worlds, the national team could see a new level of preparation and cohesion.
