Ownership and Funding

Who owns and funds UAE CUE Sports, how display advertising supports the publication and how commercial activity is separated from editorial decisions.

Updated

UAE CUE Sports believes readers should be able to understand who owns the publication, how its current commercial model works and whether financial relationships can influence independent editorial decisions.

This page explains the ownership and funding model described by UAE CUE Sports and the separation between commercial activity and editorial decisions.

Who Owns UAE CUE Sports?

UAE CUE Sports is owned by James Mercer.

James Mercer serves as:

  • Founder;
  • Owner;
  • Publisher;
  • Managing Director.

He oversees overall publishing direction, editorial standards and strategic development.

Publication Identity

The publication operates publicly as UAE CUE Sports at https://uaecuesports.com/.

Ownership is stated on this page, while publishing and editorial responsibility are detailed on the Masthead.

Current Funding Model

The current commercial revenue model described on this page includes website advertising.

UAE CUE Sports currently displays advertising through:

  • Google AdSense;
  • related Google advertising technologies where applicable.

The existence of advertising helps support the publication but does not give advertisers authority over independent editorial conclusions.

Display Advertising

Display advertising may appear alongside news, guides, rankings, reviews or other editorial material.

Placement of an advertisement next to an article does not mean:

  • the advertiser commissioned the article;
  • the advertiser approved the article;
  • the advertiser influenced its conclusions;
  • UAE CUE Sports independently endorses every advertised product or service.

Google AdSense

Google AdSense is the advertising service identified for UAE CUE Sports.

Advertising delivered through Google may be selected or processed using Google's own advertising systems and technologies.

More information about cookies and related advertising technologies is provided in the UAE CUE Sports Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Sponsored Content

UAE CUE Sports does not currently offer sponsored content as a regular commercial publishing product.

UAE CUE Sports does not currently operate a regular program for:

  • sponsored articles;
  • native advertising articles;
  • paid partner stories;
  • commercial editorial-style features.

If sponsored or partner content is introduced in the future, it should be clearly labeled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage.

The standards that would apply are described in the Sponsored Content Policy.

Affiliate Revenue

UAE CUE Sports does not currently operate a regular affiliate-link program.

We therefore do not currently describe product links as generating standard affiliate commissions.

If an affiliate program is introduced in the future, relevant commercial relationships should be disclosed where appropriate and this page should be updated.

Paid Rankings

UAE CUE Sports does not sell positions in independent editorial rankings.

Businesses, venues, academies, products, events or other entities cannot purchase a higher independent editorial ranking position.

Advertisers cannot purchase:

  • a higher editorial ranking;
  • a better independent review score;
  • a favorable independent recommendation;
  • removal of legitimate criticism from an independent review.

Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position.

Official Rankings

Official sports rankings reported by UAE CUE Sports are produced by the relevant governing body, tour, federation, league or competition organizer.

Commercial relationships with UAE CUE Sports do not alter those official rankings.

Official sporting rankings should also be clearly distinguished from independent editorial rankings created by UAE CUE Sports.

Advertising Does Not Buy Coverage

Buying advertising does not guarantee independent editorial coverage.

An advertiser cannot require UAE CUE Sports to:

  • write an article about the advertiser;
  • publish a favorable headline;
  • remove accurate criticism;
  • change an independent editorial conclusion;
  • ignore relevant negative information;
  • publish promotional claims as verified facts.

Coverage Does Not Require Advertising

The opposite principle also applies.

A sports organization, athlete, federation, event organizer, venue, academy or company does not need to purchase advertising in order to be considered for legitimate editorial coverage.

Editorial relevance is evaluated separately from commercial spending.

Press Releases and Editorial Submissions

News announcements, press releases, source material, official documents and story suggestions may be submitted to UAE CUE Sports without payment.

Editorial submissions should be sent to:

editorial@uaecuesports.com

Submission does not guarantee publication.

A press release is treated as source material and should not automatically be presented as independently verified reporting.

Partnerships

UAE CUE Sports may consider professional, media, data, event, research or institutional partnerships.

Partnership inquiries should be sent to:

partnerships@uaecuesports.com

A partnership does not automatically entitle an organization to favorable independent editorial coverage.

The specific nature of any future partnership should be described accurately rather than presented as a broader endorsement than the relationship supports.

Editorial and Commercial Roles

In a small publication, individuals may have responsibilities that touch different parts of the business.

Regardless of organizational size, UAE CUE Sports aims to preserve a clear decision-making principle:

Commercial value does not determine independent editorial conclusions.

When a relevant conflict exists, it should be recognized and managed rather than hidden.

Editorial Independence

Independent editorial decisions should be based on:

  • editorial relevance;
  • available evidence;
  • source quality;
  • accuracy;
  • reader usefulness;
  • appropriate sporting context.

They should not be determined by:

  • advertising spend;
  • commercial pressure;
  • a promised business relationship;
  • a request for favorable treatment from an advertiser;
  • payment for visibility elsewhere on the site.

Reviews and Commercial Relationships

A company may advertise on UAE CUE Sports and also become the subject of independent editorial coverage or a review.

Where that occurs, the advertising relationship does not provide control over the independent conclusion.

If a material commercial relationship is directly relevant to a review or recommendation, disclosure should be considered where necessary for readers to understand the context.

Corrections and Advertisers

Advertisers may report factual errors in the same way as any other reader or organization.

A material factual error should be corrected regardless of whether the correction is favorable or unfavorable to a commercial partner.

Conversely, accurate coverage should not be removed or rewritten simply because an advertiser finds it unfavorable.

Changes to the Revenue Model

If UAE CUE Sports introduces a material new revenue format, the relevant commercial and editorial policies should be updated so readers can understand how the format works and how it is disclosed.

Other Commercial Formats

The following are not current standard UAE CUE Sports products:

  • regular sponsored articles;
  • affiliate commissions;
  • paid ranking positions;
  • paid editorial reviews;
  • paid newsletter placements;
  • paid social-media campaigns;
  • commercial research reports;
  • lead-generation programs;
  • paid enhanced editorial profiles.

Other Funding

The funding information stated on this page consists of James Mercer’s ownership and the publication’s display-advertising model.

If a material outside funding relationship affects ownership or control, this page should be updated to explain it.

Funding Transparency

Funding and commercial relationships should be described according to their actual role so readers can distinguish ownership, advertising, sponsorship and partnership arrangements.

Audience Metrics

Audience and traffic figures are not part of this ownership and funding disclosure.

No Guaranteed Commercial Results

Advertising and other commercial relationships do not guarantee business results, audience reach, search visibility or independent editorial coverage.

  • specific sales;
  • specific leads;
  • specific traffic;
  • search-engine rankings;
  • Google News visibility;
  • Google Discover visibility;
  • specific social reach;
  • independent editorial coverage.

Historical Reference

UAE CUE Sports uses 1988 as a historical point of reference in its identity. Current ownership and funding are described separately on this page.

Changes in Ownership or Funding

If ownership, control or a material source of funding changes, UAE CUE Sports may update this page and other relevant publisher policies to reflect the new circumstances.

The purpose is to give readers a reasonably clear picture of relationships that could be relevant to understanding editorial independence.
