Al Nasr closed round five with a 96-80 win over Al Wahda and 10 points in Group Two. Sharjah sit one point back.
Al Jazira remain third on six points, with Al Wahda fourth on five. A separate intermediate table published by UAECUESports on September 26 listed the teams on six, five, four and three points, respectively. That snapshot is separate from the current standings after round five.
UAECUESports reported that Al Nasr had put together three consecutive wins over Sharjah, Al Jazira and Al Wahda in an earlier stage of the group campaign. The reported score against Sharjah was 88-82.
Al Nasr built their lead early
Al Nasr controlled the first three quarters. They took the opening period 31-22, then added a 30-12 second quarter. A 20-18 edge in the third kept them ahead.
Al Wahda won the final quarter 28-15. The comeback came too late.
Sharjah set up a direct test for first place
Sharjah beat Al Jazira 87-44 after taking a 19-8 lead in the first quarter. They added a 25-8 second quarter, then won the third 20-16 and the fourth 23-12.
A separate Federation Cup match listing on bball.is records Sharjah beating Al Jazeera 93-81. That result is distinct from the 87-44 win over Al Jazira in round five reported here.
Dubai's separate 94-87 EuroLeague win over Barcelona, covered in our earlier report, was another UAE basketball result. Saturday's domestic game will decide who finishes on top of Group Two.
Both final-round fixtures are scheduled for 7pm on Saturday. Al Jazira host Al Wahda, while Al Nasr travel to face Sharjah. A Sharjah win would bring the teams level on 10 points. An Al Nasr win would preserve their advantage.
Al Nasr's strong first half and Sharjah's 87-44 win set up the final-round contest. First place is still up for grabs.
