On September 26 and 27, the 17th International Tunisia Lake Rowing event brought together athletes from 10 countries. For Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, it was a first overseas appearance in Olympic rowing.
Hassan Ismail Al Hosani finished second in the under-15 singles. He and Issa Ahmed Al Hosani took second in the doubles. Zayed Saif Al Naqbi placed third in the singles. Al Ittihad independently reported the same results.
The club finished fourth in the overall team and country standings. A first trip abroad.
Al Ittihad's coverage reported no subsequent disciplinary decisions, protests, annulments or revisions to the race results.
Three podium places in the under-15 events
The Sharjah rowers represented both the emirate and the UAE. Their results gave the team an early test against international competition.
Youth competition is also part of the wider UAE sports picture. UAE CUE Sports reported that a Fujairah tennis event drew more than 200 players across youth, open and veterans divisions.
General manager Ahmed Issa Al Hosani highlighted the young rowers' growing potential and credited the club's technical and administrative staff for their work.
Club leaders point to development work
Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, chairman of the club's board, congratulated the athletes and the technical and administrative staff. He said the results reflected the team's preparation. Reaching the podium at the club's first overseas event, he added, should motivate further progress. The club is also working to identify and develop young rowing talent.
General manager Ahmed Issa Al Hosani said the performances showed the athletes could compete and improve. He credited the technical and administrative teams and said the club would keep supporting the rowers' development.
Fourth overall. Three podium finishes. The results give Sharjah a starting point in international Olympic rowing. The debut is not a promise of future medals. It shows the club's youth programme has already produced rowers who can reach the podium abroad.
