At the Turkey Powerlifting Championship, فيصل الغيص الزعابي, also known as Faisal Al Ghais Al Zaabi, won the 83kg category. مايد الرضا, Mayed Al Redha, took silver at 74kg.

Al Zaabi's record
Al Khaleej describes Al Zaabi as a leading powerlifter in his weight category in the UAE and the Arab world. His gold in Turkey adds to the five world championship medals and 27 Asian-level medals cited in the report.
The UAE has also won podium places in other sports. One example is the Emirates jiu-jitsu haul at the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The Turkey result came in powerlifting, with the two athletes earning medals in separate weight classes.
