Cartagena's tournament took place at Coliseo de Combate Ignacio Amador de la Peña. In Quito, athletes competed at the Exhibition Centre in Ecuador's capital.
AJP's club directory lists JM Team MMA in Bogotá, Colombia, as part of the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro ecosystem.
Two host cities, one ranking pathway
Ranking points give the tournaments a purpose beyond participation. AJP says its 2026 schedule is designed to widen professional competition and give athletes, clubs and academies more chances to compete, build experience and improve their positions in the association's rankings.
AJP's global ranking lists Peru's Juan Gomez with 400 points in the Men's Master 1 Blue 23-24 Global category. The listing does not establish that those points came from either the Cartagena or Quito tournament.
AJP points to regional growth
AJP describes Latin America as one of jiu-jitsu's leading growth markets and says turnout in Cartagena and Quito reflects the sport's expanding base across the region. Its club directory also lists Elite MP Team BJJ, but does not connect the club to either event.
EDGE Group's backing supports the tournaments as part of wider efforts to develop the sport and provide competitive platforms in international markets. The events add two Latin American stops to AJP's 2026 calendar, where athletes can compete and collect ranking points.
