After three league rounds, Al-Wehdat had collected only two points. The club still needed its first goal of the season.
Al-Wehdat had collected just two points from its first three league rounds when El-Nahhas was appointed. AfricaSoccer reported that the early results were among the reasons for Wasim Al-Bazour's dismissal.
Funding agreement cleared the way
On Sunday evening, El-Nahhas met honorary president and transfer funder Imad Al-Damisi and the club's board president at a hotel in Amman. Club sources told Gulf Sport that the parties settled all outstanding matters.
Before moving to Jordan, El-Nahhas coached Iraq's Al-Zawraa, Libya's Al-Tahaddy and Sudan's Al-Merrikh. In Egypt, his previous clubs included Al Ahly, Arab Contractors and Al Masry.
Licence issue remains tied to continental matches
The dispute arose while Al-Damisi and the board were at odds. The club also found that El-Nahhas did not hold the Asian Pro coaching certificate. He holds the highest African coaching qualifications. For continental competitions, the club planned an administrative workaround: fitness coach Mohammed Al-Sanjlawi, who holds the Pro certificate, would be listed nominally as technical director.
Available independent reports confirm El-Nahhas's appointment and the staff. They do not provide a separate official decision on his Asian Pro licence.
El-Nahhas arrived in Jordan about ten days before the announcement. Before the club confirmed the contracts, he led training and a friendly against Al-Salt. The match ended 0-0.
First official test is against Al-Jazeera
El-Nahhas is scheduled to take charge of his first official match against Al-Jazeera on 9 October. It is the fourth round of the Jordanian Pro League. The game will be played at King Abdullah II Stadium in Al-Quwaismeh.
Al-Wehdat appointed him after terminating former coach Wasim Al-Bazour's contract following poor results.
The paperwork is settled. Now the new staff must deliver a first win and the club's first goal of the season. The verdict will come on the pitch.
