The third Libya Heritage Carnival began in Benghazi in mid-September, according to Al Bayan. The city is scheduled to host the Al Watan Arabian Horse Beauty Championship on October 1 and 2, 2026.
Preparations are complete. Al Bayan reported that organizers consider the technical, logistical and organizational work finished. The competition will follow international standards recognized by ECAHO.
The carnival's Al Watan endurance championship is scheduled for Slouq, with a 20-kilometer distance for children and a 40-kilometer distance for adults.
The beauty championship is one part of a wider festival program. The event brief also lists international show jumping and endurance competitions alongside the Arabian horse events.
The schedule extends beyond Benghazi. A separate endurance stage is planned in Slouq as part of the carnival program.
An Egyptian delegation led by Dr. Hamed al-Aknas visited Benghazi on 18 September 2026 to discuss cooperation on animal health, food security and the development of horse breeding. Al Bawaba News reported that the visit was linked to participation in the Libya Heritage Carnival.
Arabian Essence TV's event listing also names the Al Watan Arabian Horse Championship 2026 in Benghazi as an event on October 2. That matches the scheduled dates reported for the championship.
