A race within Dubai's cycling programme
The race is part of this season's cycling programme. Dubai Police is organising it with the UAE Cycling Federation, Dubai Sports Council and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority. The prize money will go to the winners.
Rolling closures are expected from 6am to 8:30am as riders pass along Al Ain-Dubai Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Ras Al Khor Road and Al Meydan Road.
The race has a national theme. It is one of the sporting activities intended to express pride in the UAE and celebrate the country's achievements. Dubai Police said it also aims to encourage sport as a way of life and support community health and wellbeing, ARN News Centre reported.
Sporting participation at the centre
The race adds a participation-focused event to Dubai's sporting calendar. It joins the wider mix of activities described in Dubai's October calendar.

Dubai Police and the RTA have warned motorists to expect rolling closures between 6am and 8:30am on Sunday as cyclists use the route. The affected roads are Al Ain-Dubai Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Ras Al Khor Road and Al Meydan Road, The National reported.
