The Sharjah Sports Council is assessing 60 athletes aged 12 and over across 12 sports through physical tests running from 22 September to 11 October. The results are intended to help coaches plan conditioning.

Assessments are taking place in sports halls at clubs across Sharjah. The programme covers 60 athletes aged 12 and above from across the emirate. They represent 12 sports.

Assessments built around five abilities

The tests cover speed, strength, flexibility, agility and endurance. A specialist team from the council's Talented Players Care Section is carrying them out. The Sports Affairs and Development Department oversees the work.

Bakhit Saeed Al Qors said the initiative is intended to discover and nurture talent and produce champions across different sports for Sharjah.

The council plans to send coaches periodic reports on each athlete's results, with recommendations for physical training. Sharjah24 says coaches can use the results to adjust training. That is the point. The assessments are meant to give coaches practical guidance for each athlete's programme.

Testing continues through 11 October

The programme began on 22 September 2026 and is scheduled to run until 11 October 2026. The council's annual plans include the testing, which uses the same five physical measures across different sports. Al Khaleej published a matching account of the timeline and test framework.

The Talent Care Section conducts the assessments, while the Sports Affairs and Development Department oversees the programme and sends results to coaches for training adjustments.

Elsewhere in the UAE, youth participation features in events such as the Fujairah tennis championship. Sharjah's programme instead focuses on physical information coaches can use in training.

The initiative links testing with coaching: athletes are assessed, and coaches are due to receive results and recommendations. Follow-up matters most. The tests' value will depend on how coaches use that information.
