The eight-a-side cup runs from 10 to 25 October 2026 at the University of Sharjah. It brings together 41 teams from university faculties, Sharjah universities, alumni and University City institutions.

The University of Sharjah's sports stadium will host the tournament from 10 to 25 October 2026. Sharjah24 reports that the revised schedule moves the start from 6 October, the date listed in the original schedule. The dates have changed.

Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Vice Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, is patron of the tournament. The Deanship of Student Affairs is organising it through its Sports Activity Section.

Sharjah24 identifies the tournament as the University of Sharjah President's Cup for the 2026/2027 season.

Four divisions bring campus groups together

The field has four divisions. University of Sharjah colleges have 14 teams, universities in Sharjah have seven, alumni have 12, and institutions in Sharjah's University City have eight. That makes 41 teams in all, drawn from across the academic community.

Four groups. One cup.

The available independent reporting does not confirm results from matches after the scheduled start, a winner, final scores, a prize fund or official disciplinary decisions. Those details therefore remain unestablished.

Competition with a community purpose

Dean of Student Affairs Professor Dr Eid Kanaan said the event aims to connect students, graduates and University City institutions. It also offers a competitive football platform. The deanship wants sports participation to promote teamwork and positive competition. It also aims to encourage healthy lifestyles.

Sharjah's sports calendar includes school competition, as covered in a report on the Arab schools chess championship. This cup instead puts university students, alumni and campus institutions on the football field.

Results will be one measure of the tournament's value. Another is whether its four divisions deliver the cross-campus participation organisers want. That is the test.
