Dien Bien Hosts Regional Billiards and Snooker Cup

At the Royal Conference Center, competition began on 26 September with more than 150 athletes from 11 clubs. The 2026 Royal regional open billiards and snooker tournament features four events. Two days. Two formats.

Singles use knockout play. Teams compete in groups under a round-robin system. The best-performing sides advance to the semi-finals and final.

Four events across two formats

Athletes compete for singles titles in 8-ball and 9-ball. Team events cover both disciplines as well. Singles are played on the first day. Team matches follow on the second.

The opening ceremony took place on 26 September. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised it with Huy Toan Dien Bien Limited Company. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, deputy director of the department and head of the organising committee, delivered the opening address. Competition runs from 26 to 27 September.

Club competition as a development platform

At the close, the organisers will award first, second and third prizes to the highest-placed athletes and teams in each event. BTC also presented commemorative flags to the participating clubs. Coverage of a separate Vietnamese event, the Da Nang billiards championship, reported a field of 129 athletes from 18 districts.

The tournament gives athletes a club-level setting to compete, share experience and develop their skills. Team play takes them through group matches and knockout stages. The split is clear. With 11 clubs involved, the event offers a platform for billiards and snooker in the province.
