At Le Golf National, Matt Fitzpatrick finished 20 under par, three shots clear of his nearest challenger. The win was his fourth title of 2026 and his 15th worldwide. It also lifted him to ninth in the Race to Dubai and secured his place in the DP World Tour season finals.

Adrian Otaegui finished 44th in France and collected 27.5 points. That took his season total to 971 and put him 45th in the standings. Four tournaments remain before the field is settled. Otaegui is inside the top 70 who qualify for the Abu Dhabi event.
RTE Sport reported that three of Fitzpatrick's four titles in 2026 before this victory came on the PGA Tour: the Valspar Championship, RBC Heritage and Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Fitzpatrick breaks into the top 10
Fitzpatrick's win at Le Golf National was his 11th DP World Tour title. It earned him 835 points and raised his season total to 1,821, putting him ninth in the standings. Reuters reported that he began the final round with a five-shot lead. He made his second bogey of the week on the 72nd hole.
His record includes three wins at the DP World Tour Championship. The latest came in 2025. Fitzpatrick said the French Open's history made this win especially rewarding. He pointed to Sir Nick Faldo's two victories and Seve Ballesteros's four. The course also hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup and the 2024 Olympic golf tournament.
Tommy Fleetwood withdrew before the third round because of illness. Fitzpatrick had moved to 13 under after the second round and held off challengers including Jeff Winther and defending champion Michael Kim; he took a five-shot advantage into the final day.
The French Open was the 36th event in this season's 42-tournament Race to Dubai. It was also the fifth event in the Back 9 series. The top 70 qualify for the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links from 5 to 8 November. The top 50 then advance to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai from 12 to 15 November. The PGA Tour reported Fitzpatrick's halfway lead. The European Tour listed the tournament as part of the Back 9.
The UAE's overseas sporting calendar also includes title campaigns such as the UAE President's Cup finale in Poland. For Otaegui, the immediate task is to stay in the top 70. The remaining events will decide who reaches Abu Dhabi.
Otaegui is well ahead of last season's finish. He placed 122nd, with about 459 points across the campaign. Supported by the Emirates Golf Federation, he has already more than doubled that tally. A top-70 place is still not guaranteed. The standings will settle it.
