At a workshop on Wednesday, 14 October, Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club introduced Al Hamriyah Readiness, a programme to assess staff and turn the results into individual development plans. Sharjah24 reported the launch that day. A further measurement stage is intended to track the programme's impact.
Club chairman Hamid Hassan Al Shamsi and quality and excellence adviser Dr Sultan Fayez Al Shamsi led the session. Eighteen people attended. They included administrators and coaches, along with employees representing the finance and team sports committees. Staff from the cultural and media committees also took part. Maintenance and procurement were represented as well. The programme is open to all club employees.
The framework assesses seven areas. It starts with psychological readiness, then considers mental readiness. Professional capability is another measure. Leadership and teamwork are assessed separately. The programme also looks at the ability to manage change and innovation. Its final area is service to athletes and customers.
Six stages carry the process forward. First comes an initial assessment, followed by analysis of the results. Each employee then receives an individual development plan. Coaching sessions follow. Staff progress is monitored before a repeat assessment.
"We develop people before we develop results," Hamid Al Shamsi said. He described the initiative as an institutional system for measuring and strengthening staff readiness. The assessment is intended to show how prepared employees are for their roles and where they can improve. Those findings will inform practical development plans, with progress monitored over time.
The club says the programme is part of its strategy to strengthen institutional readiness and improve administrative and sports operations. It is also intended to improve coordination across departments and committees. Individual development is expected to reinforce teamwork. The launch workshop began the process, with coaching and monitoring among the next stages.
The staff programme came as the club held other activities in October. On 8 October, its individual sports and talent development committee held an open day to identify promising young athletes. Two days later, the club and Sharjah's Department of Social Services held The Mind Code workshop. It covered psychological wellbeing and concentration, with mental preparation also on the agenda. Both events were separate from Al Hamriyah Readiness.
The internal staff focus differs from efforts to widen participation, including the UAE Chess Federation's community chess partnership. Hamriyah's announced process begins with staff assessment and tailored coaching. It also includes repeat measurement.
