The draw is scheduled for Saturday, 3 October, a day before the individual tournament begins. Olympics.com lists the competition dates as 4 to 10 October, with 637 athletes from 96 countries due to take part.
The UAE squad will leave Germany on Thursday, 2 October. Dr Nasser Al Tamimi will lead the team. He is a UAE Olympic Committee member, vice-president of the UAE Judo Federation and supervisor of the senior team. Al Bayan reports that coach Victor Sikrov and the technical staff will travel with 11 athletes. Next comes Baku.
The World Championships programme continues beyond the individual events: a mixed team event is scheduled for 11 October.
Germany camp puts match work first
The team completed 60 bouts against international opponents during its Germany training camp. Those bouts gave the athletes match practice before a championship with competitors from 96 nations. The draw will set the matchups.
The UAE's October sporting calendar also includes the UAE School Games schedule, another competition programme announced for the month.
The National Gymnastics Arena in Baku is listed as the venue for the championships. CONI's schedule assigns one men's and one women's weight category to each of the seven days of individual competition.
UAE's first bouts are scheduled for Monday
The UAE campaign starts on Monday, 5 October, with the women's 52kg and men's 66kg events. Al Bayan's preliminary roster lists Bayan Narmand at 66kg. Mohammad Beik and Najad Yazbek are listed at 73kg; Talal Shafili and Mohammad Murad at 81kg.
Zafar Kosov is listed at 100kg and Omar Marouf at over 100kg. Bashirat Khroudi is at 52kg. Mashbat Bazar and Nengerel Oyu are at 57kg, while Eliza Letif is at 78kg.
Seven Arab teams are listed among the participating nations: the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Lebanon.
The squad has 11 athletes across the listed weight categories. Its 60 bouts in Germany provide a record of match work. Results in Baku will show how well that preparation holds up. The draw is next.
